Green Garden Spaces

Opened in March 2023, Green Garden Spaces is an independent business on the site of Stokeley Farm Shop, Stokenham, Devon. Run by husband and wife team, Emma and Jonathan Hutchinson who have run a seperate gardening business in the area for the last 18 years.

The garden centre offers an extensive range of plants that are beautiful, reliable and often unusual varieties. Using local suppliers where ever possible means that the plants are great quality and reasonably priced. The garden centre shop, housed in a converted shipping container, has a plethora of garden seeds, tools and gifts as well as a great range of wildlife essentials such as bird boxes, feeders and food. The recent additions of British grown houseplants by The Little Botanical and prestigious roses from David Austin Roses completes the range.

Information on planting suitability and combinations for pots, beds and borders is freely available. You can pop in to the garden centre for experienced, knowledgeable advice on plants for your garden whether in Devon or further afield.

Open 7 days a week 9am – 5pm

Please pay for Green Garden Spaces plants, pots, compost in our container.

You will often find us doing jobs around the garden centre so please ask for us if you can’t see us!

A lifelong interest in plants and wildlife, combined with running a seperate gardening and cleaning business, has enabled us to create a varied portfolio of ideas to help you make the most of your garden. The gardens we work with focus on the microclimate of the local area and importantly the wishes of the people who will be enjoying them. Our work includes clients with gardens both large and small, providing maintenance or redesign advice, volunteering in a primary school garden, talking to fellow gardeners about plants and following passions for wildlife and sustainable floristry.

Plants and Houseplants

We specialise in providing an extensive range of plants which are high quality but not high price. Local suppliers keep transport time to a minimum and reduce cost while helping plants thrive in our local climate. We strive to use local companies and support other small UK businesses. The majority of our suppliers are peat free or moving towards peat free status.

Our annuals, perennials and shrubs are grown in Devon and Somerset.

We are proud stockists of David Austin Roses and Frank P Matthews Trees.

Bulbs are supplied by Taylors Bulbs who offer an extensive range from Alliums, Crocus, Daffodils and Iris to Tulips and many more.

An exciting range of British grown houseplants from The Little Botanical allows us to indulge in and sell wonderful indoor varieties such as Boston Ferns, Peace Lily, Pothos, Aloe Vera, String of Hearts, String of Pearls and Monstera amongst others.

Our carefully chosen range of pots bring you options to suit all locations. The terracotta range looks especially good with heat loving plants. There are glazed pots in shades of natural, green and blue for a splash of colour. For a traditonal look with a modern material, our fibrelite pots are light weight and versatile. All are frost proof and reasonably priced. Look out for unusual shapes like our popular low bowls for bulbs, succulents or Alpine plants.

We have a handpicked range of indoor pots, pots with saucers and hanging pots.

We are proud stockists of Suttons Seeds and Earthsong Seeds. They provide an extensive range of all your favourite plants to grow including flowers, herbs and vegetables.

Our bagged compost is supplied by Durstons of Somerset. As a company they are moving towards a completely peat free range.

We currently stock peat free Multipurpose, Soil Conditioner, Farm Manure, Grow Bags and Decorative Bark. We also stock Ericaceous compost for acid loving plants.

We are excited to be stockists for Coir Products. The growing medium, seed compost, coco chips, mulch mats, seed pots, yarn and hanging baskets are made entirely from a biodegradable, natural and carbon neutral by product of the coconut industry.

Our range of Henry Bell bird feeders, nest boxes, insect, bat and hedgehog houses provides feeding, watering and habitat for a vast range of our native wildlife. We also stock specialist wildlife food such as mealworms, nyger seed, fat balls, sunflower hearts, mixed seed, peanuts and hedgehog food.

The huge range of Wild ID guides from the Field Study Centre provide fantastic activities and information for nature spotting. These handy fold out guides provide information on plants, wildlife, woodlands and the seaside. They are perfect for popping in a small bag and enjoying outside. We welcome you to chat to us about gardening for wildlife in your garden.

Unique to us, are a superior range of high quality, natural balms great for gardeners. Fragranced with essential oils and packed with beneficial ingredients to support your skin. They make great gifts or self care products.

We stock a range of gardening essential items such as Mulch gloves, twine, labels and hand tools.

Gardening is a lovely way to acknowledge the changing seasons. You can find plants for every season with colour, texture and form to enjoy all year round.

From seeds in Spring, to drought tolerant Summer planting, to bulbs in the Autumn and Winter structure we stock the very best options to keep your garden looking beautiful all year round. Planting advice is always available in store.

We love Christmas in our house and each year we look forward to sharing the best of the festive spirit with our customers. There is always a real tree inside, a handmade wreath on the door, decorations on the mantel piece and thoughtful gifts for loved ones. Green Garden Spaces are excited to be continuing the Stokeley tradition of selling Christmas trees and adding some extra sparkle in the form of wreaths, decorations and gifts each year.

Wreath making workshops are held on the run up to Christmas. Held in the warmth of the Taphouse and accompanied by South Hams Brewery own Mulled Wine. Follow our social media for more details or pop in to the garden centre to find out more.
